The Native Difference

Tourism is what we do.Looking after these mountains is why we do it.

0 M — Home Ground

We Are Native

We aren't an agency that flies in guides for the season. Northern Trails is run by people born and raised in Dharchula. We know which ridge holds ice in June, which trail is dangerous in October rain, and which homestay family will look after you like their own.

4,200 M — Treeline

We Conserve

Every yatra we run includes cleanup drives, waste-segregation at camps, and environmental awareness work along the route. The mountains gave us our livelihood — protecting them isn't a side project, it's the entire point.

3,500 M — Village Level

We Give Back

Porters, cooks, mule owners, and homestay families from Darma and Byans valleys are hired first — always. Income from your yatra stays in the very valleys you walk through, not in a city office far away.

Yatri Voices

From those who walked with us.

Every review below is from a real yatri — names, routes, and months are unedited.

Om Parvat darshan at sunrise changed something in me permanently. The natural Om in the snow — tears rolled down my cheeks without warning. Northern Trails made every logistical detail invisible so we could focus entirely on the experience. The native guides know this mountain like their own home, because it is.

September 2024

I have done treks with big-city agencies before. There is simply no comparison. Northern Trails put us in homestays with actual valley families, hired porters from the local villages, and gave a portion of our fees to conservation work. The Panchachuli views from base camp were beyond anything I imagined. Will return for Adi Kailash.

Third time visiting Darma Valley, first time with a native guide. The difference is night and day. Harish (our guide) stopped at a village where his grandfather's family lives — the welcome we received was extraordinary. That authenticity cannot be packaged. Northern Trails is simply the only way to experience these valleys.

Who Leads Your Yatra

A team that treats your yatra like it’s their own family walking the trail.

Meet the team
01

Professionally Run

Permits, route planning, medical contingencies and logistics handled by a dedicated operations team — not improvised on the trail.

02

Born in These Valleys

Our guides grew up walking these routes before they ever led a single yatri. The mountain is home ground, not a job site.

03

Small, Accountable Groups

We deliberately cap group sizes so every yatri gets real attention — and so the trail does not bear more footfall than it should.

Common Questions

Everything you want to know.

They are ONE combined yatra. Both peaks are visited on consecutive days from Gunji. Day 2 is Adi Kailash darshan at Jolingkong; Day 3 is Om Parvat darshan from Nabhidhang. Northern Trails offers this as a single 5–7 day package — you do not need two separate bookings.

May–June and September–October are ideal for all our yatras. The monsoon (July–August) brings heavy rain and landslide risk on the upper routes; we advise against travel in these months. Darma Valley is accessible from April through October.

Yes — completely. As a native Dharchula team, ILP processing for the Adi Kailash, Om Parvat and border-area routes is routine for us. You only need to share a government ID copy and 2 passport photos. We handle everything else.

No. Breakfast and dinner (pure vegetarian) are included from Gunji onwards. Lunch is not included and is available from dhabas and teahouses along the route. This follows standard practice on the Adi Kailash circuit.

All accommodation (guesthouse or camping), pure vegetarian breakfast + dinner on trail, experienced native guide, ILP processing, all entry and permit fees, local transport Dharchula ↔ Gunji ↔ Jolingkong/Nabhidhang, and first aid kit with emergency oxygen. Flights and personal gear are excluded. GST (5%) and TCS (5%) are charged additionally.

Dharchula is 6–7 hours by road from Pithoragarh, which is connected by bus and shared cabs from Kathgodam (nearest railhead, ~5 hrs from Delhi). We provide detailed transport guidance and can coordinate onward travel from Kathgodam or Pithoragarh on request.

10% deposit confirms your booking. 40% is due 7 days before departure. The remaining 50% is payable on arrival at Pithoragarh. A 5% discount applies for full upfront payment. Cancellations before departure: full deposit refund. Within 15 days: no refund. If we cancel due to weather or force majeure: full refund or free rescheduling.

Yes — and this is one of our specialities. Whether you want a private family group, a corporate retreat, or a combined multi-yatra route, write to us and we will build an itinerary for your dates, group size and fitness level.
